Eligibility Requirements

To be eligible to join the Oklahoma County Medical Society, you must:

  • be a resident of Oklahoma County or practice medicine primarily in Oklahoma County; and
  • hold an MD or DO degree; and
  • be licensed by the Oklahoma State Board of Medical Licensure and Supervision or the Oklahoma State Board of Osteopathic Examiners, with the license having been recorded in the office of the County Clerk of Oklahoma County;
    • or be employed by the federal government and assigned to work in Oklahoma County.

Who We Are


OCMS is focused on physicians’ interests in Oklahoma County and the greater community. For more than 100 years, OCMS has been devoted to its physician members, as well as serving the citizens of Oklahoma County.

OCMS provides early career physicians with training for leadership within the healthcare environment. More than 100 physicians have been through the high-rated Physicians Academy. OCMS offers free counseling sessions with a licensed psychologist for members, residents and students. We work hard to ensure our members (and future members) have access to the care they need.

Free Legal Advice

If you think that you might have legal concerns in your practice, the first order of business is usually to find a medical malpractice lawyer for legal advice on your case. We make it easy to access a qualified lawyer who will discuss the details with you at no charge.

The OCMS staff will help you with whatever question you have on a personal basis. We go above and beyond for our members, and that is what sets us apart. We’ll help you find a solution to your problem or assist you with your need.

Physician Wellness

100% free. 100% confidential. Available only to OCMS members, the PWP provides up to 8 free, confidential sessions with an experienced psychologist, in a private location, with appointments convenient for physicians. No insurance billing. No records. Completely private. For physicians only.

Community

OCMS has a long history of incubating worthwhile community projects, providing resources to help them get started. Organizations like OBI, EMSA, Hospice of Oklahoma County (now INTEGRIS Hospice), Healthy Schools Oklahoma, Health Alliance for the Uninsured, and ITNCentralOklahoma all started through OCMS. Connections are important. OCMS helps physicians connect on professional and personal levels with our membership meetings and collegiality events.

The Bulletin

The Bulletin is the only publication dedicated for Oklahoma County physicians, and it’s delivered free to all members. Members are invited to participate in the journal as authors or members of the Editorial Board.

Referrals & Membership Directory

The OCMS website is a go-to source for the public to find physicians. Our printed membership directory is a go-to source for physician referrals. Only OCMS Members are included in the OCMS membership directory. Every member gets a FREE copy of the directory and is included in the online directory.

Physician Connections

OCMS helps physicians connect on professional and personal levels with our membership meetings and collegiality events. Membership provides physicians with a sense of belonging and meaning, while also remaining as a source of grounding and support. Learn more about our committees and becoming a delegate.
